Abstract: | Born in Vienna in 1927, Jakov Lind spent the war years in Holland and Germany. He then moved to Israel and now lives in London. When Lind came to London in 1954 he was a "Viennese-born Dutchman turned Israeli with an Austrian passport, Eastern European parents and a complete infatuation with English."l Best known for his story Eine Seele aus Holz (Soul oEWood) which he published in 1962, Lind continued the tradition of Kafka and Canetti, writing satirical stories in German. |
