Abstract: | From a data-based matrix of information sets in William Gibson's early 1980s cyberpunk novels such as Neuromancer, the look of cyberspace has changed. The landscapes of twenty-first century science fiction, which can be found in recent works such as Tad Williams' series Otherland, now dominate the science fictional cyberspace landscape. Gone are the utilitarian workspaces of two decades ago and in their place are worlds and universes teeming with life of all kinds. |
