Communication research on Asia has enjoyed remarkable growth at the turn of the twenty-first century. Scholarly interest in Asia has grown largely due to the economic and cultural rise of China and India. Then, what are the implications of Asia’s rising global power for communication scholars, in Asia and around the world? For example, the on-going mobile revolution in Asia merits a timely and thorough review to docu-ment the scope, depth, and achievements of past research in understanding the social change in Asia triggered by the ubiquitous mobile phone.
